What we do

Gear Up is a Healthy Valleys Social Enterprise empowering communities through cycling, walking, and wheeling.

We focus on providing opportunities for local people to improve their health and wellbeing and build stronger communities in areas of deprivation or where there are service gaps.

Our resilience is our strength, allowing us to quickly adapt to support the ever changing needs of the community since 2003.

Our vision is to reduce health inequalities in rural South Lanarkshire and enable people to live healthier and happier lives.

Resilient Enterprises

Gear Up forms a part of Resilient Enterprises- the group of Social Enterprises run by Healthy Valleys to support our core charitable mission.

All of our enterprises work on a not-for-profit model, where all income generated is reinvested in Healthy Valleys to help support communities improve their health and wellbeing.

Resilient Enterprises Values

Recognising people as assets

Our enterprises are only as strong as the people and volunteers who support them, and we will ensure that we harness the skills and experience of our people in the development of our enterprises to ensure they continue to meet needs.

Delivering Value

Our value lies in providing reasonably priced, ethical, and environmentally sustainable products; the income from which supports the free services provided by Healthy Valleys to those most in need.

Enabling Improvement in Lifestyles

Our products will enable people to make a real and demonstrable difference to their lives: exercising and improving health; ensuring families have the clothing and equipment they need; and training and upskilling people to move into education and work.

Supporting the Move to Net Zero

We know that the Climate Crisis is one of the main issues affecting society and will strive to ensure an understanding of how our enterprises support the move to Net Zero.

Partnership

Healthy Valleys seeks to work in real and meaningful partnership with other enterprises and will campaign for Social Enterprises to have a fair share of public spending.
